2GB Memory Module Installation Techniques

Synchronous data random access memory or SDRAM has been the standard for memory modules for more than ten years, but of late, DDR SDRAM or double data rate SDRAM is widely used, due to its capability of accessing the memory at twice per clock- style speed.

Should you notice sluggishness in the operation of the laptops, it means the memory has to be upgraded and though, as much memory can be upgraded as possible, 2 gb memory would be good enough to carry out all sorts of applications, including video graphics, gaming and so on.

Checking emails and downloading MP3s can be done with a two GB memory module. The kind of applications determine the need of memory storage, for instance, some applications like graphics programs are memory hungry. Likewise, the type of operating system also determines the amount of memory. Microsoft windows are far more demanding than Linux operating system.

Before adding more memory, it is essential to know the correct contact layout to install memory modules. Also, it must be found whether there are slots available in the mother board to install the memory module. Some motherboards can accept either SDRAM or DDRSDRAM but the two types cannot be mixed and only one type has to be selected and it should be checked with the motherboard manual to determine which kind of memory module the laptop requires.

While installing the memory module, the power should be off and the person should be electrically grounded, the former for the safety of the laptop and the latter, for the safety of the person.
